In 2005, Macedonia adopted the first law for protection of personal data, but many of the companies and individuals didn’t know their obligation and rights until 2021. This year enter into force new law for protection of personal data, according with harmonization process with EU regulations. The new law assure that every citizen knows that has the right to:

• the protection of personal data concerning him or her;
• access to data which has been collected concerning him or her, and the right to have it rectified.

The regulation is an essential step to strengthen citizens’ fundamental rights in the digital age and facilitate business by simplifying rules for companies in the digital single market.
